Participant record is expected at the Veteran World Wrestling Championships 2015, which will take place in Athens Greece, at Taekwondo stadium from October 13th to October 18th. Greek Wrestling Federation is accepting dozens of applications daily due to a regulation that allows athletes to register even one day before this event kicks off. So far, 700 male and female athletes from 41 countries have registered. However, this number may rise up within the next days.
Greece and the conditions that Greek Wrestling Federation has created for such an event, is magnetizing hundreds of athletes from all over the world. Therefore, Veteran World Wrestling Championships 2015 and Greece is accepting lots of advertisement and publicity in countries where wrestling is a highly recognized sport. Team USA is the largest delegation up until now, with more than 120 athletes and attendants. Iran will come to Athens with 100 people, Turkey with 90 and Russia with 60 athletes and coaches. «It is an honor for us than so many wrestlers have chosen to participate in this championship. We will do our best to satisfy them both in and out of the palestra, in order to give them great memories from this event» said Mr. Kostas Thanos, chairman of the Greek Wrestling Federation and 4th at Sydney Olympic Games.
Armenia, Argentina, Austria. Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belarus, Canada, Switzerland, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, Great Britain, Georgia, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kystyzstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, FYROM, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Nigeria, Norway, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, South Africa, USA and Greece have register until now. Teams will be arriving in Athens as of October 9th.
